Subject A2 has experienced total memory loss, and continues to appear disoriented. Demonstrates an unforeseen, possibly unintended, measure of influence over remaining subjects. Progress persists at predicted rate, more rapidly than that of others.
Upon analysis of encounters with others, Subject A2 shows signs of exemplary leadership ability, but also suggests rash decision making and resistance to authority. Some subjects who give him their support indicate progress and growth in strategic thinking. Others could be a threat. Continued monitoring strongly suggested, as observations could be conclusive.
Thomas doesn't remember who he is, so his personality is, for the most part, a blank slate. His amnesia isn't total; he knows what a girl is, what animals are, how to walk and talk and do normal everyday things. It only takes him the course of a day to remember his name, and it takes him doing something incredibly stupid to remember why he's there in the first place. But the specifics of the world outside the Glade (because he knows there is one)? Are a mystery to him. So the Thomas that is Now isn't the Thomas that Was. Still, there are lingering remnants. He's not a robot, after all. He shows signs of being reckless and foolhardy, the type of person to leap into situations without thinking about it. He's the first person to ask questions and think critically about the things being told to him; Thomas doesn't like to be spoon fed. He's stubborn and has a bit of a hero complex. There's a need for atonement, too, because of what he did to the others in bringing them to the Glade and the Maze and for Chuck's death.
He'd promised Chuck he'd get them all out, after all. It isn't just Chuck, though. At one point, Thomas stabs himself with the needle of a Griever to regain his memories and finds out that he's the reason everyone was put in the Glade to begin with. His friend Newt tells him that it doesn't matter, that what happened is in the past, but it's clear Thomas doesn't quite believe him. He did this to them, and only he can get them out of it. The boys of the Glade are his personal responsibility, so when things happen to them, Thomas takes it personally.
Thomas is the type of boy who can think on the fly. He was likely chosen to design the maze due to his natural ability to think outside the box, and he displays this ability even in his amnesiac state. Even when chased down by a Griever, Thomas is able to come to the conclusion that he can kill it in the closing walls of the maze if he uses himself as bait. That's the major flaw in Thomas' personality. He's reckless to the point of having no sense of self preservation.
If Thomas can do something, he'll do it, regardless of the consequences on his life. The above mentioned trapping of a Griever is only the second time Thomas is almost crushed by the walls of the maze, the first being when he enters the maze to attempt to rescue Alby and Minho (to the protest of every single other person in the Glade). Thomas offers himself up as bait multiple times, and when he needs answers about why they're being attacked, why everything in the Glade is changing with his arrival, he stabs himself with the deadly needles the Grievers carry on them. The result of that is for his memories to come back (as showed by the same happening to Ben and later Alby). True, there's a serum that the Gladers can use to make sure Thomas doesn't die, but Thomas doesn't even consider that as he's stabbing himself in the thigh with the syringe. All he wants is answers, and he'll do anything to get them.
This includes questioning the rules of the place around him. Thomas' favorite question is 'why' followed up by 'why not'. From the moment he enters the Glade he's questioning three years of routine and rules, pointing out that none of them have ever worked, so why keep doing them? It isn't just because he's the catalyst that Thomas' arrival changes everything. He's almost too curious, too creatively minded, and people who appreciate the status quo (represented by Gally) don't appreciate Thomas and his new way of thinking. Thomas is the boy you go to to start a revolution, because he's the boy who's most likely already wondering why things have to be the way they are. We don't know if he'd feel the same way had he kept his memories upon his arrival to the Glade. We do know that Thomas feels terrible about his involvement now, and to him, that's what matters.
Thomas is a compassionate person, as well. From his first moment in the Glade, he's growing to care for the other Gladers as comrades in arms and he takes a little bit of a bigger shine to Chuck, the youngest boy in the Glade. Chuck is kind of like the Glade's mascot, in a way, that little brother who annoys you but you care for a lot. Thomas doesn't know this boy from Adam, but he promises to get Chuck out of the maze and back to his parents. When Chuck leaps to take a bullet for Thomas and subsequently dies as a result, Thomas takes it hard. He has to be dragged out of the lab, his grief is so big. He promised Chuck. He told him he'd get him out. He told him they'd be free. It's likely that had it been any of the other boys+girl (Newt, Minho, Winston, Frypan or Teresa) that Thomas would have reacted in the same way. All of them are his friends and all of them are his responsibility.
Except maybe Teresa. But his memories of her are just snippets. He knows they worked together to form the maze and that she came up after him into the Glade, but whatever they were before arriving in the Glade, they aren't now. He still feels close to her, though, and it's likely the pair share a bond that no one else in the Glade shares with anyone else.

He hasn't said anything this entire time, just stayed quiet, his breathing heavy. He looked tired when the camera was under him, the befuddlement a thin veneer over true exhaustion. When he stops turning, he takes a deep breath, jostles the phone as he runs his free hand through his hair. When he speaks, it's low, a mumble to himself more than anything. ] No walls. I thought they said they were rescuing us. Where is everyone?

That woman in the lab had told them that the world was gone, that it was nothing but a vast desert populated by monsters known as Cranks, but this was not what he'd been expecting. The word 'desert' brought to mind rolling hills of sand (and Thomas was slowly learning to stop questioning 'why' and 'how' he knew stuff; he just did, and worrying about it would give him nothing but frustration) and temperatures that were significantly hotter than this. The ache in his chest starts throbbing again, but Thomas ignores it in favor of heading out of the woodland towards the shore. If this was another maze, it wasn't anything like the one he'd been in before. There hadn't been a beach there, for one, and he saw no walls during his short time in the tree he now considered his home.
There had been other people with him when he woke up, but he hadn't bothered to stop and talk to them before he'd bolted off into the forest in a panic. He starts to look for them now, carefully picking his way through the timber. It was entirely possible that WCKD had dropped them somewhere else, split them up as some kind of weird test.
Maybe then he can get some answers.
